How To Copy A Key Fob?
Sometimes, the issue might not be with the ignition itself but with the key fob.
If your car key fob has stopped working, you may be able to copy the fob key yourself. All you need is a blank key fob and a few tools. Follow these steps to copy your key fob:
- Remove the battery cover from the back of the key fob.
- Locate the PCB (printed circuit board) inside the key fob.
- Find the transponder chip on the PCB. This will be a small, square chip with a metal contact on one side.
- Place the blank key fob next to the original key fob, with the PCBs facing each other.
- Use a sharp knife or hobby knife to scrape the transponder chip from the original PCB carefully. Be careful not to damage the chip or the PCBs.
- Solder the transponder chip onto a blank PCB.
- Reassemble the key fobs and test them out.
Suppose you’re not tech savvy. You can always find a locksmith to do it for you. It’s all good.

Ignition Repair: Most Common Ignition Switch Problems
Here are some of the most common ignition switch problems you may face and how to resolve them yourself.
If your car has been having trouble starting recently, it may be due to a faulty ignition switch. Ignition switch problems can be caused by a variety of factors, including wear and tear, moisture, and electrical issues.
One of the most common signs of an ignition switch problem is the car stalling while driving. This can be a dangerous situation if it happens in traffic. If your car stalls while you’re driving, pull over to the side of the road and turn off the engine. Then, check the ignition switch to see if it’s in the “on” position. If it is, try starting the car again. If the problem persists, you may need to have the ignition switch repaired or replaced.
Another common symptom of an ignition switch problem is the car not starting at all. If your car doesn’t start, first check to see if the ignition switch is in the “on” position. If not, turn it into that position and try starting the car again. If that doesn’t work, check to see if there’s any moisture on the ignition switch. Moisture can prevent the switch from making proper contact and cause starting problems.
If you cannot resolve these yourself, there’s always a locksmith.
